Reintroduction Project

Dear Friends,

As you all are aware, Andrew, Wendell, Lizzy, and I have left to visit Argo for a very special gig we'd like to call the Reintroduction Project. Having taht said, I have left my crew in teh capable hands of Sami. She will report to me anything and everything that goes on, so stay on task, please! Thanks.

Now some of you are probably wondering about this little project. Well, it's quite simple- this is an effort to successfully reintroduce a few selected individuals from the following four dragon populations:

Terrors- Of the 115 remaining individuals (15 males and 100 females), I have 3 females.
Micron- Of the 63, I have 20 (10 breeding pairs)
Dotron- Of the 62, I have 20 (10 breeding pairs)
Wyn- Of the 53, I have 20 (10 breeding pairs)

All together, my cargo consists of 63 dragons important in restoring the balance of Argo's ecosystem. this project will take time due to the training the animals have undergone in preparations towards become truly wild animals. If all goes well, all four species of dragon will be spared from becoming FUNCTIONALLY EXTINCT (in which the last remaining individuals of a species no longer play a role in ecosystem function and/or a small number of breeding individuals won't be viable due to few breeding animals to sustain a set population, and cuold further be caused to genetic drift and inbreeding depression, leading to loss in fitness). But with recent studies over a four year period done in Argo, there is suficcient evidence that possible individuals still live in their native habitats.

Terror- Ob is the last wild Terror of Idgris, as well as the last truly wild male. 3 young female Terrors (captive bred and rehabiliated) will be released into the wilds of Idgris during the peak of the Terror's mating season in hopes that Ob will mate with them and form his own harem. Ob is estimated to be in his 20's.

Micron and Dotron- These two species are special and even rarer than the Terror. Instead of Argo, the chosen individuals will be set free into Argo's smallest of 2 moons, Entinez. There are plenty of small vertebrates and large invertebrates to feed on, and plenty of trees and forests to live and breed in. Wendell and Lizzy will be stationed on Entinez to monitor their progress ove the course of five years.

Wyn- The rarest of all dragons, the possible breeding individuals will not be set free in their native Idgris with their large relatives, the Terrors. Instead, they will make their temporary homes on the small continent of Zed, the cradle of Archeankind. With plenty of food and rocky shelter, they will be safe from any predation, as Zed has no native predators large enough to kill the little dragon.

Each of the 63 dragons will be fitted with long lasting monitors on their legs that cannot be broken easily and are all weather-proof. As mentioned earlier, we will not return to Earth for at least 5 years. And to the possible last wild individuals that may still roam in their historical homeranges, we will closely monitor them as well, and take samples for future breeding purposes via artificual insemination and egg cell transplants.

I personally want to thank all who have helped and are continuing to help in teh efort to save and conserve not only dragons, but other speceis of life that are considered precious to all who love nature.
